The Jacobi Triple Product Identity is an important identity known to Gauss, Jacobi and Cauchy. It expresses a certain series in terms of infinite products and it is used to derive many interesting number theoretic results such as Lagrange's theorem for sums of four squares. In this talk, we will discuss this identity using theory of elliptic functions. We will also discuss the connection between elliptic functions and modular forms.
